PENGARUH PENAMBAHAN FILLER SIO2, CARBON BLACK, DAN TIO2 PADA SIFAT MEKANIK LINER EPOKSI POLISULFIDA MOTOR ROKET CASE BONDED

Virgin epoxy polysulfide liner (without filler) is considered to be not strong enough to withstand the structural loading and extreme condition during rocket operation. Filler adding is a crucial matter that has to be done to improve the mechanical strength of liner. SiO2, carbon black and TiO2 have been chosen as the filler to reinforce epoxy polysulfide liner matrix in Lapan case bonded rocket motor. The influence of those fillers adding in liner mechanical properties has been investigated. Nine type of liner composition have been made and underwent several test in order to reveal mechanical properties such as hardness, maximum stress, maximum strain, and adhesive strength (liner to metal). The results show that hardness is proportional to tensile strength and maximum strain is proportional to adhesive strength, meanwhile tensile strength has polynomial profile toward maximum strain. The highest maximum strain (52%) was achieved when the tensile strength was on 16.25 kg/cm2.
